The Cake Place

Melissa became a chef at the age of 49. What began as a hobby, making cakes and desserts for her daughter’s Varsity and AAU sports teams, quickly grew into a business. Her friends began requesting cakes, then people she didn’t know, and her business flourished from there!

With no formal training, Melissa turned to the Food Network to get started – and she still relies on it for inspiration, as there are always fresh ideas to explore. She’s the type of person who comes up with new ideas in the middle of the night and makes them happen in the early morning!
