Camp EAGR

Each summer children with epilepsy and their siblings have the best week of their lives!

Register your child(ren) by paying your non-refundable deposit of $35 per child in order to save your spot. Registration is opening soon!

Day Camp

Day Camp is an option for Camp EAGR 2026! For those kids not ready yet to stay overnight at camp, we are offering a Monday – Friday day camp option. Drop-off is between 8-9am and pick-up is between 4-5pm. If you need additional flexibility, please contact our camp director.

Both day and overnight campers will enjoy a week of swimming, horseback riding, rock wall climbing, laughing and having fun with kids who also have epilepsy. Your child will make new friends and get to experience things they might not get to do anywhere else. Once they experience Camp EAGR, it will quickly become one of the best weeks of their life!

For campers aged 16 & 17 who have the ability and desire to become volunteer counselors, we offer a Counselor-In-Training (CIT) program. CITs are provided training, additional responsibilities, and special perks. More details about this program can be found below in our Camp FAQs. If your child is interested in becoming a CIT, please choose the CIT option during camp registration.

Epilepsy is a hidden disorder. Despite how common it is, fear and stigma exist. It’s easy to feel isolated and alone. But at Camp EAGR, everyone knows what it’s like to have epilepsy. Campers don’t have to be embarrassed by taking medications, having seizures, or having epilepsy. Everyone at camp understands! Kids with epilepsy can be just KIDS! And siblings connect with other siblings who know what it’s like to have epilepsy in the family. Watch our camp video to see what Camp EAGR is all about!

Volunteer Opportunity

Every summer we have volunteer opportunities at our two sleepaway camps for children and young adults with epilepsy. Our camps offer volunteers a rewarding experience like no other. Please contact our Camp Director, Mike Radell, for more information or fill out an application to get started.

Boys and girls with epilepsy, ages 8-17, and their siblings are welcome.

Epilepsy affects the whole family! Siblings are more than welcome at camp and have just as much fun!

Ask our camp director about the possibility of being a Camp EAGR counselor or a Camp COAST camper for young adults, with epilepsy and I/DD, ages 18+.

In 2025, Camp EAGR will be back at Rochester Rotary Sunshine Camp, which is located in Rush, NY in Monroe County. Sunshine Camp is about 20 minutes from Rochester.

Yes. You have something unique to contribute and will find something valuable about Camp EAGR, regardless if you have seizures every day or every 5 years. Seizures don’t get in the way of fun at camp! All counselors are trained in seizure first aid and we have a neurologist on site 24/7. If a camper has a seizure, they get checked out by our medical staff and can return to regular activities as soon as they are feeling better.

Former campers make the best counselors! All campers, aged 16 & 17, whether they have epilepsy or a sibling, who wish to become a volunteer counselor when they are older are encouraged to apply for our CIT program.

Our CITs receive additional training including seizure recognition and first aid; conflict management; keeping campers engaged; CIT expectations and responsibilities; and more! CITs have additional responsibilities throughout the week including encouraging campers to engage in camp activities, ensuring camp chores are completed daily, and assist counselors and camp staff as needed. These responsibilities are designed to prepare them to be a full-fledged counselor when they turn 18. Each CIT is assigned to a cabin; will be mentored by an experience counselor; and will receive additional guidance and training throughout the week from our CIT Program Coordinator.

CITs enjoy special perks such as a mid-week CIT-only camp fire and a special CIT-only hoodie. Hoodies are a highly coveted item at camp as they are reserved for camp staff and volunteers!

The CIT program is part of our overnight camp program. Tuition for CITs is the same as it is for overnight campers.

Overnight camp tuition is $750 for the week and includes all meals, lodging, and activities.

Day camp tuition is $265 for all 5 days and includes lunch, snacks, and activities.

For both overnight and day campers, a non-refundable fee of $35 is due at registration with the remaining balance due no later than July 1, 2025.

Both overnight and day options have need-based scholarships available on a sliding scale; and children with OPWDD-eligibility may qualify for Family Reimbursement dollars (a separate application is required).

Yes. Counselors meet all NYS screening and background check requirements for health and safety and undergo our rigorous training program. The camper-to-staff ratio is 3 to 1. Our location at Rochester Rotary Sunshine Camp is certified by the NYS Health Department.
