EPI Hosts Self-Direction Family Picnic

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Sept. 26, 2025 – On Saturday, September 13, 2025, EPI hosted the first annual Self-Direction Family Picnic at Genesee Valley Park. More than 30 families attended the event where they were treated to lunch from Mr. V’s Catering and had the opportunity to participate in several activities like t-shirt tie-dying, corn hole, coloring, face painting and other games.

“We were so happy to be able to host this event to give families the opportunity to meet the EPI team, each other and learn about additional EPI resources that they may be able to take advantage of,” says Program Director Jen Levey. “Based on the success of this picnic, we will definitely host something again next year.”

The Self-Direction Program assists people with intellectual or developmental disabilities and their families to choose and manage their own budgets and services. The goal of Self-Direction is to expand a person’s supported opportunities to live independently in the most integrated community-based setting of his or her choice.
