Dr. Michel J. Berg has been a pillar of the epilepsy community for decades, making an indelible impact on both medicine and patient support. He is a Professor of Neurology at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry and has worked in the Epilepsy Center since 1992. Dr. Berg holds certifications from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, as well as subspecialty boards in Clinical Neurophysiology and Epilepsy. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology (FAAN) and the American Epilepsy Society (FAES).
From 2016 to 2023, Dr. Berg served as Director and Chief of the University of Rochester Epilepsy Center, where his leadership elevated care for patients with epilepsy. Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Berg has been a vital part of the Epilepsy Foundation and PRALID, the founding organizations of EPI. He was on the board of both organizations and his vision and dedication were instrumental in bringing these two organizations together.
Dr. Berg’s commitment to EPI extends to one of its most cherished programs: Camp EAGR. From its earliest days, when he literally helped lay the groundwork by installing a waterline, to his ongoing encouragement of collaboration between URMC’s epilepsy specialists and EPI, Dr. Berg has exemplified the power of partnership in supporting individuals with epilepsy and their families.
As Honorary Chair, Dr. Berg continues to champion the synergy between medicine and community, making him the perfect leader for this year’s Chocolate Ball, themed “The Enchanted Rainforest Gala.”
Join us in celebrating Dr. Berg’s extraordinary contributions and support his vision by attending the Chocolate Ball on March 8, 2025, at the Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center.
