Brain Injury Basics: Partnering with Parents

Join us for the last of a series of three informative webinars for Parents/Caregivers on brain injuries.

This webinar will be structured as a conversation and cover the following topics:

  • Understanding the role of social communication in brain injury recovery
  • Discussion of community resources utilizing the social collaboration model
  • Recommended books ,workbooks, and other resources for parents

Our speaker is Kimberly Cicherillo, Community Integration Counselor at EPI.

This webinar is for parents, caregivers, and community members who are interested in learning more about neurodiverse brains and brain injuries.

Bio for Kimberly:

Kimberly has been working within the healthcare and human services community for over 30 years. She earned her master’s degree in social work with a concentration in Child and Family in 2004 from Roberts Weslyan University and has completed 34 course credit hours toward her doctorate in Counseling and Human Development with a concentration in Human Development from the University of Rochester-Warner School. Kimberly has extensive knowledge of home and community-based services/supports within the Greater Rochester area. Additionally, with many years of experience both in OPWDD and DOH (TBI and NHDT) waiver services and supports, Kimberly holds certifications in both positive behavioral intervention strategies (PBIS) from the Neurobehavioral Resource Project Apprenticeship Program (completion in 2012) and Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention (SCIP)-Instructor-Train the Trainer program in 1997.

In her passion for community, service, learning, collaboration and working with others of all ages and needs, Kimberly’s held different positions and worn many hats in her career along the way; from- Community Integration Counselor, Direct Support Professional (DSP), Quality Intellectual Disability Professional ( QIDP), Program and Clinical support coordinator, Medicaid Service Coordinator, Chemical Dependency Counselor, Program Development Coordinator and Supervisor, Program Director of- In home Behavioral Supports, Corporate Compliance and Quality Assurance officer and Staff development trainer (human growth development, SCIP, culture and diversity).

Kimberly values self-advocacy, a solution-focused, strength-based, person-family centered and humanistic perspective that is woven into her work ethic and life balance philosophy while loving every minute of being a part of other people’s life story and journey toward greater independence and empowerment.
